Uniqueness in Blogging! How to do? – Part 1

August 2, 2009 by Karthikeyan | 10 Comments | Stumble It! Delicious Reddit Digg Technorati

Well in the past week, me and one of my blogger friend had a serious discussion about maintaining uniqueness in blogs. He is blogging about tech related things and his blog was once having a Page rank of 5 and Alexa rank of around 1.5 lac.

Uniqueness in Blogging

The discussion started after I saw something wrong in his blog. There is not even a single comment in his last 80 posts / articles. I have asked him about this and did a research on his blog.

Finally found how well(!) is he blogging. We already have discussed about blogging in the posts like

But this one seems to be very interesting. All of a sudden he got so many comments in his blog for posts apart from those last 80 posts from some particular persons alone. The major thing that I have found is that all those persons are new bloggers and they just have used my friend’s blog for marketing their blog in form of getting links from other sites. Once they got so many links from a Page rank 5 blog, they simply walked out.

Doesn’t he blog in a unique way? Definitely he didn’t. The problem is that he is just posting information about softwares and technology related news from other websites and blogs.

As we have said earlier in our previous posts, blogging is not just posting information. It’s making an information. So how well is it possible to maintain uniqueness in your blog? Will be posted in our next part – Uniqueness in Blogging! How to do with Comments?. Do watch it.

Have some words to go ahead? Then go ahead by commenting here.

What are you thinking right now? Share with us. Definitely yours will be wonderful than mine!

“Blogging is not just posting information. It’s making an information.”

Yes, of course! It should be unique, informative and rich article. We should create our own article.

Actually, blogging does not necessarily have to be all about posting information, it can also be for entertainment purposes. It all depends on what the bloggers intention is.

      Happy to see you here.
Ya. Me too told that only. It’s definitely not posting info alone.

    Hi Karthik

You came to my blog first – so now I come to yours too, never seen yours before, but now I’m subscribing :)

Regarding making content unique – you are right about that. I try to do that too, also, but sometimes the content just requires to be “relayed” simply, like with some ordinary news I just want to share with my readers.

      Hi Klaus. Thanks for subscribing.

And it is not bad for sharing such news with readers. But it should not be done frequently.

Blogs need to be informing, interesting and sometimes (if not all the time) fun. To get comments really going… you need to ask open-ended questions to encourage readers to comment.

Also, visiting other blogs in your niche and leaving comments (like you did on our site) will let people know you exist, and definitely help get you comments. You just need to make sure you do it on a regular basis.

This line says it all “blogging is not just posting information. It’s making an information”

I also used to be confused on seeing many of my friends blog posting news and infos! I used to think “Is blogging all about collecting and posting news only” But soon I realized that it is not! After publishing many of my self made tuts on html/css/ajax etc I am getting much hits from many places even when I am not posting regularly! So in shorts, only original contents count!
Thanks for this great line again :)
