Tweak your PC’s Performance – Part 1
BlogrPro came up with some necessary steps to make your PC a perfect one for your daily work with much better performance in speed and security.

Although these steps are well suited for Windows XP, this can be implemented in other Windows versions and other operating systems. Here are those steps:
- Uninstall if there’s more than one AntiVirus software
There is a common misunderstanding among PC users that installing more than one antivirus solution will make their system a secure one. But what happens really is that such installations will make your PC to hang. As antivirus solutions are taking back the control of your operating system for its security, more than one antivirus on your PC will definitely lead to conflicts among them on getting the control of your system. We have experienced such conflicts as both the antivirus didn’t even allow us to remove the virus found.
- Install Firewall
Even though your system is well secured with an antivirus software, it is still open to the hackers as they can easily intrude into your system. Hence we recommend you to install a firewall solution in your PC. After installing a Firewall, it is good to disable the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS).
- Install Anti Spyware
This is highly recommended if your antivirus solution is not well equipped with such an anti spyware feature. Spywares are some special kind of virus especially developed to reside on your PC to do some spy activities. Most antiviruses have anti spyware feature but upto an extent. We recommend you to install a separate Anti Spyware solution in your PC.
- Stop Background Processes
In Windows, many unwanted background processes will run upon its startup. This highly consumes system memory. Disable services like
- Wireless Zero Configuration - Disable it if your PC is not using Wireless connectivity.
- Windows Time – Disable it if you don’t want automatic synchronization of your PC time with the Internet time.
- Remote Registry – Disable it if you don’t want to control your Registry from a remote computer.
- Use Automatic Updates
Use Automatic Update feature in Windows to make your Windows operating system up to date. Go to Control Panel -> System and then under Automatic Updates tab select Automatic option.
Part 2 of Tweak your PC’s Performance will feature some other tweak methods to turbo charge your PC’s performance.
