I use Ning for the Talented Bands and Solo Artists network, it can get a bit overpowering sometimes, but it is a great system to be able to use and best of all it’s free!

All great for running your own social networking site. Now, for those who are thinking of running something on a larger scale, I’d recommend PHPfox ($300 for a license, but it’s well worth it)!

I knew before about PHPfox, I didn’t use it but I think it’s good application but not good looking, still need to work on the template design!

Buddy Press is good but it still needs lot of improvement. But one thing to share here is that since it is based on WordPress, plugin development is very easy in Buddy Press.

See a lot of service that are interesting, however there are quite a few better solutions available that allow you to create social networking sites on your own domain

I have just started to use socialGo and I like the interface. However it is quite limited if you use the basic plan and only appears to be interesting if you use the paid plan which can go from as little as 4.99$ to 29.99$.
Anyway, creating your own social network is an excellent idea and maybe I will talk to Hesham to start a network with the “100 Famous Bloggers”:)
