4 Major Threats to Your Domain Name
Every domain name is like a brand name and certain domain names worth is millions of dollars. It just take a minute time to register a domain name. But after the domain name registration, the real problem starts in form of the following threats.

- Spammers
Since you are registering a domain name under your name and address, it includes even your email address and phone number. It is easy to identify those domain name registration details with many whois websites. Therefore many spammers are using such whois websites to identify those contact details to spread a large amount of spam messages.
Suppose if you are using Whois Privacy Guard, still the problem exists. What the Whois Guard does is, it will assign a random email id with fake registration details. But still the spammers can mail to the random mail id which will forward those spam messages to your original mail address.
Whois Archives are another easy way for the spammers. Websites like and are actually providing the whois archives to the visitors. Hence the spammers can spread spam messages using that way also.
- Domain Squatting
If you have registered a .com domain and have not registered other extensions like .net, .org, then the Domain Squatters will register such domain names to gain profit through the popularity of such domain name. Major companies like Google, Microsoft too faced such problems with their domain names because of the domain squatters.
- Hackers
Well if a domain name is not locked, then there exists a major threat to that domain name through hackers. Once hackers got your domain name, it is difficult to regain your domain name from those hackers.
- Trademark
If you are registering a domain name and that name is registered as a trademark by some one else, then you have to face legal charges and it is almost impossible to get back your domain name from the trademark holder.
Well if you know some other threats to a domain name, kindly provide here.
What are you thinking right now? Share with us. Definitely yours will be wonderful than mine!

@Karthikeyan,
I am sorry but the real thing is that Whois Guard is different from PrivacyProtect. If you have doubt, then check the whois details for blogrpro.com. You will see a random email id so that the spammers can send me at anytime a spam mail.

Very useful post. Domain locking is one of such thing which every blogger should take care of after buying a domain. If they have not locked their domain .. Chances are very high that they might loose their domain after it tenure expires.

I already have Private whois. I am not thinking of buying other domain extension as my blog is not earning million dollars so it is not worth for me.
My Domain is already locked. And about the Trademark thing; I donno anyone having it registered. So that means I don’t have to worry

@Typhoon,
You are right dude. Trademarks should be a thing to be considered for corporates mostly.
But even if any company registered a trademark as like your blog name, then you have to face legal actions.
